Guess what? Apple is giving their customers a new surprise and it’s red. Apple has just launched a special red edition of their iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. This is to commemorate their 10-year partnership with Red, an AIDS fighting organization. This special iPhones edition has a red aluminum body and comes in 128GB and 256GB. The pricing starts at $749 for the 128GB iPhone 7 while the pricing for the 256GB iPhone 7 Plus starts at $869.
For those registered for the iPhone Upgrade Program, you can get any of the red iPhones for a monthly payment of $37. As mentioned earlier, Apple has a 10-year partnership with Red. This partnership is set up to contribute to the Global Fund in order to fight AIDS. Apple is said to be the biggest corporate contributor to Global Fund with a contribution of over $130 million.
Apple will donate some of the money from the sales of the red iPhones to charity but Apple did not disclose what percentage would be donated. Apple is not just launching a special edition iPhone 7; Apple has been making certain enhancements to some older products and launching other products.
For instance, just recently, Apple fans were surprised with the launching of the new iPad. This is to replace the Air 2, which is currently selling in the markets. This new iPad comes with Apple’s signature 9.7-inch retina display, a 64-bit A9 chip and 10 hours of battery life.
The iPad comes fitted with other features that Apple fans have come to appreciate including Fingerprint, TouchID security. You can also download and use over 1million apps on the device.
There is also an 8-megapixel camera to capture high quality images and make 1080 High Definition video. You can edit your pictures and videos right on the iPad by using Photos, iMovie, or any other editing app from the Apple App Store. You can get the new iPad at $329 for a 32GB model while the 128GB model can go as high as $559, especially for the ones with cellular capability.
The iPhone SE is another product that is getting a little enhancement. The storage capacity is being increased. The 16GB and 64GB models are being phased out while the while the storage capacities are being increased to 32GB and 128GB.
Even though the iPhone SE phone is becoming a bit more powerful, the price will still remain at around $399, depending on other features. Apple is also introducing a new but free app called Clips. This app will allow users to create a combination of video clips, photos and music, which they can share as text or MMS messages and through social media.
Clips and "artistic filters" shapes and emojis will be made available on iOS 10.3 soon.
A unique feature of Clips is that it can automatically recognize people from videos and then suggest them as message recipients. Not only that, the app can also pull in popular elements that are available in many social media platforms like Instagram, Snapchat, Vine, Google Photos, etc.
From all indications, we can safely assume that Apply is trying to redefine its products as well as the pricing system by launching new devices, adding new features and reducing prices of certain products.
This new marketing approach is targeted at competing in the lower-priced markets. This means we should expect more from Apple and not just the red iPhone 7.
